Professor Shibli is currently serving as the Chairman of Bangladesh Security and Exchange Commission – the capital market regulator. He has served as the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies (4th time elected) and also as the Chairman of Sadharan Bima Corporation (2 terms) – the largest state owned insurance company. Professor Shibli Rubayat has been in the field of Finance, Banking and Insurance education for more than 26 years. During this period Professor Shibli has played an active role in many Business, Chamber and Research related to Finance, Banking and Insurance field at home and abroad. He served as the director of Uttara Bank Ltd, SME Foundation, Community Bank Ltd and Central Depositary Bangladesh Ltd. Author of ‘E Banking and E-Commerce’, ‘Fundamentals of Insurance’ book for the tertiary level and Finance and Banking text book for the secondary students published by the National Board Professor Shibli has more than 18 research publications in his field, 2 international book chapters and 5 international research papers. He has also been awarded as the ‘Guest Professor’ at Sichuan University in Chengdu, China and also awarded as the best research paper presenter at the BAKU international research conference. All through first class in his academic carrier, he also has research degrees, diploma and training in the field of Finance and Banking in Australia and Japan. He is also the elected Senator and Syndicate member of University of Dhaka and took care of the Switzerland Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SBCCI) as the Secretary General for consecutive four terms. Member of many other academic and professional selections boards and engaged with many academic institutions-Prof. Shibli was also the elected General Secretary (two times) of Dhaka University Teachers Association (DUTA) and Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers Association (FBUTA) for consecutive two terms before serving other positions like Vice President and Treasurer. A very widely traveled (more than 34 countries) man Prof. Shibli is married with 2 sons , his wife Shenin Rubayat is a faculty of English Department and a TV news caster. His father Late Rafiqul Islam Khan was a reputed banker of his time and mother Hasina Mamtaz is a famous singer from the mid 60s and has contributed in the liberation war and is currently a social worker.
